Kevin Love jokes with Kyle Lowry about “LeBronto” at Maple Leaf Square block party

Kevin Love showed up Saturday at the block party honoring Kyle Lowry’s career at Maple Leaf Square and joked with him, saying he was surprised by all the ceremonies because he thought they were in “LeBronto.”

As Bleacher Report reports, Love’s joke referred to the mid-2010s rivalry between the Toronto Raptors and the Cleveland Cavaliers; the two teams met three straight times in the playoffs from 2016 to 2018, with LeBron James and the Cavaliers winning all three series, two of them by 4-0 sweeps. In Game 2 of the 2018 Eastern Conference semifinals, ESPN commentator Mark Jones said “we’ll be back to LeBronto for the fourth quarter” as the broadcast went to commercial.

Lowry, a 20-year NBA veteran, retired in July after signing a one-day contract with Toronto, where he played nine seasons. He won the NBA title in the 2018-19 season with the help of Kawhi Leonard, who defeated the Golden State Warriors; the club organized the block party to honor his career and meet fans. The Raptors will retire Lowry’s No. 7 jersey in the game against LeBron James and the Philadelphia 76ers on January 10, according to Bleacher Report.
