KLA War Veterans Association holds nationwide protest in Pristina today
The War Veterans Organization of the Kosovo Liberation Army is holding a nationwide protest today at 12:00 in Skanderbeg Square, Pristina.
The protest is being held in support of the four former KLA leaders and in opposition to the Special Court’s verdict, which on September 16 sentenced Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veseli and Rexhep Selimi to a total of 81 years in prison.
Following the Special Court’s verdict, OVL KLA official Gazmend Syla said the organization expressed its indignation at the ruling against the former KLA leaders.
“We express our deep indignation at the verdict against the KLA leaders. The KLA was never a criminal enterprise, but the resistance of our people. No verdict can rewrite our liberation war… The OVL KLA calls for a nationwide protest on Friday at 12:00 in Skanderbeg Square,” he said.
He also said the war-veteran associations would respond by creating a National Coordinating Council and a platform that will include Albania, Albanians in North Macedonia, and Albanians everywhere in the diaspora.
“Until the appeals process, we seek the involvement of our institutions in this regard…” he said.
