Kurti-Abdixhiku meeting ends, Hamza to meet the prime minister again
The chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, has concluded his meeting with Prime Minister Albin Kurti, without giving a statement to the media.
After the meeting, Abdixhiku did not comment on whether any agreement had been reached or whether there had been agreement on the election of the President of Kosovo.
The Kurti-Abdixhiku meeting took place a day after the prime minister’s meeting with the chairman of the PDK, Bedri Hamza. No concrete agreement was announced from that meeting either.
Meanwhile, Hamza has announced that he will meet Kurti again. He said the next meeting is scheduled to start at 16:30, after the conclusion of the PDK Parliamentary Group meeting.
Kurti and Hamza had also met on Friday, where they had discussed the issue of electing the President, as well as the PDK’s draft law on amending and supplementing the Law on the Specialist Chambers of Kosovo.
The Government has announced that it has now submitted its response regarding this draft law to the Assembly.
The meetings between the political leaders are taking place as the end of the constitutional deadline for electing the President approaches.
The Assembly of Kosovo has until 6 October to elect the new President. If the President is not elected within this deadline, the constitutional procedure provides for the dissolution of the Assembly and the holding of new elections./Telegrafi/
