Kyiv endures fourth straight night of Russian attacks: 9 injured, including a child

Kyiv endured a fourth straight night of Russian drone and missile attacks, with air defenses active over the central capital and explosions heard across the city. Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported 9 people injured in Kyiv, 6 of whom were hospitalized, including a child.

Drone debris fell across several districts of the capital, as The Kyiv Independent reports: in Podilskyi a grass fire broke out, in the Dnipro district debris struck an open area and a non-residential building — with preliminary reports of casualties — while in Darnitsky debris fell near a shop.

Police halted departing trains during the attack and evacuated passengers to the stations’ underground shelters.

President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attacks on the X platform, calling them “terrorism”: “Russia has no military objective… it is simply an attempt to break people and cause as much harm to society as possible.”

The context is grim: Ukraine’s Air Force says Russia launched 170 Shahed attack drones on the night of September 26–27 alone, while according to Zelensky, over the past week Russia launched more than 2,200 attack drones, around 1,650 aerial bombs and 38 missiles. Earlier on Sunday, Kyiv had also been hit at the Stolichny food market in Sofiiska Borshchahivka, where 2 people lost their lives and around 10 others were injured.
