LDK MPs did not take part in the vote on the Specialist Chambers law
LDK MPs did not take part in the vote on the Draft Law on amending and supplementing the Law on the Specialist Chambers and the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office, as Telegrafi reports.
Meanwhile, before the vote, Jehona Lushaku-Sadriu declared that the Kosovo Liberation Army’s war is sacred, but announced that her party cannot become part of the proposed initiative.
She stressed that no individual responsibility can be turned into collective guilt, and that such responsibility cannot undo the liberating character of the KLA’s war.
Lushaku-Sadriu said that citizens cannot be promised that a vote in the Assembly can undo a verdict or replace the legal battle.
According to her, changing an ordinary law cannot abolish existing obligations, nor can it bypass the Constitution of Kosovo.
“Changing an ordinary law does not abolish obligations and cannot bypass the Constitution. The very approval of these changes does not guarantee their implementation, nor the result being promised to citizens today,” she declared.
She also raised the concern that the approved changes may not be subject to constitutional review, calling into question the legal effect intended to be achieved through this initiative.
Lushaku-Sadriu stressed that, for the LDK, the path to contest or change a verdict is through the judicial institutions and the legal means available.
“For the LDK, the only path to change a verdict is the judicial path, the path of Appeal,” Lushaku-Sadriu said.
