Assembly ratifies the 60-million-euro loan for the student campus under “Prishtina 2030”
With 95 votes in favour, none against and no abstentions, the Assembly of Kosovo ratified on Monday the agreement between the Republic of Kosovo and the French Development Agency, which provides for a loan of 60 million euros for the renovation and expansion of the student campus of the University of Prishtina, as KosovaPress reports.
The project, presented in the Assembly by the acting Minister of Finance, Hekuran Murati, aims to renovate and expand the infrastructure of the student campus — the part at the dormitories — as well as to renovate and build sports facilities in various educational institutions around the dormitory area.
According to Murati, the project supports the organisation of the “Prishtina 2030” Mediterranean Games: during the games, the student campus will temporarily serve as the athletes’ village, while the sports facilities of the surrounding schools will be used as training centres for the athletes.
As for the financing structure, besides the 60-million-euro loan there is also the possibility of benefiting from an additional investment grant of another 10 million euros, Murati announced.
Beyond the Mediterranean Games, the project is designed to place a lasting legacy for the students of the University of Prishtina and the residents of the city, according to KosovaPress’s reporting.
