Minimum pension has tripled in 10 years: from 7,783 to 21,500 denars
The minimum pension in North Macedonia has risen almost threefold over the last ten years, according to an analysis by the financial magazine “Pari”, which Press24 published today. If in 2016 the lowest pension was 7,783 denars, today it is around 21,500 denars.
As the “Pari” analysis notes, the minimum pension today is much closer to the minimum wage than a decade ago, which shows the continuous growth of the incomes of pensioners with the lowest incomes.
According to the data published by “Pari”, over 44 per cent of pensions in the country are up to 23,945 denars, while the total number of recipients of minimum pensions is around 98,318, or 28 per cent of all pensioners.
The rise in pensions has been one of the main economic topics of recent years in the country, with linear increases and regular legal adjustments that have raised the level of pensioners’ incomes.
