“Let us move to stronger actions”, Korreshi: We should stage a sit-in in Parliament or a hunger strike
Democratic Party MP Saimir Korreshi says the opposition should move to stronger forms of reaction against the government if the majority tries to approve the territorial reform.
Appearing on the programme “Ditari i Fundjaves” with Denisa Pasholli on A2CNN, Korreshi said one alternative could be for MPs to stage a sit-in in Parliament, or a hunger strike.
Korreshi noted that he had taken a hard line from the start of the legislature, recalling that he had called for a sit-in in the Assembly as a form of protest. According to him, the territorial reform will affect 15 municipalities and the delivery of services to citizens. He accused the majority of making the changes for electoral effect.
“I have been of the hard line from the beginning, from the first session of this legislature, where our colleague Niko did not let us have our say, where everyone should speak. Back then I asked that we stage a sit-in there until the session was restored,” Korreshi said.
He added that the opposition must also support the protest that has been going on for more than 100 days, and that MPs should be on the front line.
“I think we should move to stronger actions. We must definitely support the protest that has been going on for a hundred and some days, and it is up to us MPs to be on the front line,” Korreshi said.
“Beyond the protests that there must be, if the Socialist Party tries to pass this legislative initiative, we should stage a sit-in,” the Democratic MP warned.
