Rama announces the creation of a National Council for children with different abilities
Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced the creation of a National Council for children with different abilities, with the aim of bringing a new approach to relations between institutions, children and their families.
The announcement was made during the “Flasim” podcast, where part of the discussion was devoted to support for children on the autism spectrum and the role of assistant teachers in the education system.
During the conversation, where a mother was invited together with her son with different abilities, Rama said the aim is a more direct involvement of parents in determining supportive policies and measures.
According to the prime minister, the National Council will consist of representatives of institutions, parents and teachers. Its work is expected to serve as a basis for further orientations and suggestions regarding policies and support for children with different abilities.
“An effort to enter a new phase of relations between institutions and these children and their parents, engaging the parents who are at the forefront of this effort,” Rama said.
He added that the aim is for the work to continue through the Council with guidelines and suggestions, including in this structure representatives of institutions, parents and teachers.
