Levica hits back at Filipche and Mickoski: ‘We have no “mortgages” to be blackmailed with’
Levica responded today with a harsh statement to the leaders of the two biggest parties, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski and opposition leader Venko Filipche, saying the party has no “mortgages” through which it can be blackmailed, as Fokus reports.
According to Levica’s statement, its presence at the public tribune “What after 35 years?” (organized by the civic platform “12.05”) “visibly disturbed the comfortable space in which the deal market between SDSM and DPMNE has operated for 35 years.”
“Today they merely repeated the old show: Mickoski tries to place us in SDSM’s political orbit, while Filipche, at a press conference with bizarre choreography and misplaced enthusiasm, declared us Mickoski’s satellite,” the response reads. “They are so used to every political force belonging to someone that they cannot accept that Levica belongs to itself and is authentic, a product of its time.”
Levica stresses that it has no “hidden mortgage to be paid off with favors,” no “political debt” and no “file that can silence its voice” — and therefore cannot be forced into silence over justice, unlike the old party leaderships which, it says, rewrite the Criminal Code in favor of officials or vote urban plans in the interest of the business elite.
The response comes after a harsh clash within the opposition: Filipche yesterday called the critics inside SDSM gathered around the “12.05” platform — whose session Levica also attended — “putschists” and “schemers,” while Mickoski accused Levica of being an SDSM satellite.
