Halle Berry’s ex-husband levels serious accusations against the actress

Halle Berry’s ex-husband, Olivier Martinez, has sought a temporary restraining order against the actress, accusing her of physical violence against their 12-year-old son, Maceo.

According to new court documents obtained by Page Six, Martinez claims the incident occurred on 26 September, when Berry allegedly got into a physical altercation with her son.

According to Martinez’s claims, the actress’s fiancé, Van Hunt, was also present at the time of the incident.

Martinez claims it all started after Berry told Maceo that he looked “stupid” and that he was an “idiot” while he was playing with virtual reality glasses.

“The situation escalated and she lunged at our son and started fighting physically with him,” state the documents filed by Martinez.

He further claims that Berry grabbed her son by the neck and started choking him, while shouting: “Who’s dominant now?! Who’s dominant?!”

According to Martinez, Maceo was panicked after the incident and called his father asking him to come and get him. He claims the boy told him he did not want to return to his mother’s home because he was “traumatised”.

In the court documents, Martinez claims this is not the first time.

He accuses Berry of having physically fought with Maceo on other occasions over roughly the past year and a half, claiming she knocked him to the ground and forced him to “submit”.

The actress’s ex-husband has also raised claims of racially charged statements. According to him, in 2023 Berry had told their son that his father was “a white man who was trying to rob a Black woman”, in connection with their disputes over child support.

Martinez claims Berry then asked the boy: “How do you feel about that as a Black man?”

He has also stated in the documents that he has “significant concerns” about Berry’s mental health and claims that alcohol abuse may have contributed to her behaviour.

Martinez is seeking sole custody of Maceo, as well as a restraining order for himself and his son.

Halle Berry has denied the accusations through her lawyer, Marina Beck, who described Martinez’s claims as “completely baseless and deliberately misleading”.

The lawyer claimed there is ample evidence, including previous court rulings, which according to her show that Martinez has repeatedly violated court orders and interfered with the therapeutic treatments and educational interventions Maceo needs.

According to her, Martinez has previously been legally sanctioned for these actions.

Beck also accused Martinez of a documented history of “unstable, possessive and violent” behaviour.

“Halle has become accustomed to this kind of outrageous behaviour from Mr Martinez and, although she is deeply saddened, she will not allow it to stop her from fighting for Maceo’s best interests and offering him the love and support he needs,” the lawyer’s statement said.

Berry and Martinez, both 60, married in 2013 and separated in 2015. Their divorce was finalised only after eight years, following a long battle over custody of their son.

In September 2024, Berry stated in a court document that she had spent more than $200,000 in efforts to co-parent Maceo with Martinez.

She claimed at the time that her ex-husband had refused to cooperate and communicate with her in a way focused on the child’s interests.

Besides Maceo, Halle Berry is also the mother of daughter Nahla, 18, whom she has with her ex-partner Gabriel Aubry.
