Magistrates’ salaries divide institutions, High Court stays out of the roundtable called by Rama
The High Court will not be represented at the roundtable called for tomorrow by Prime Minister Edi Rama, where the new salary scheme for magistrates is expected to be discussed.
In a reply addressed to the Prime Minister’s Office, the head of the High Court, Sokol Sadushi, argues that the discussion on salaries is untimely at this moment, since the new law on magistrates’ salaries is already under review at the Constitutional Court.
Sadushi expresses that he remains open to institutional dialogue, but emphasizes that for a constitutional matter currently under adjudication, decision-making belongs to the Constitutional Court.
“For a constitutional matter already raised for adjudication, the word belongs to the Constitutional Court. Consequently, dialogue on this object can be substantial and effective after it has expressed itself,” his reply states.
According to Sadushi, participation in a roundtable with the same object, under current conditions, would only serve to repeat the institutional position of the High Court.
