Massive fire at Lalzi Bay extinguished, Sako: Dozens of firefighters helped, no hotel damaged

The massive fire at Lalzi Bay was extinguished today, Sept. 23, while the fire continues in the hilly forested area.

The news was announced by Durrës mayor Emirjana Sako. She said 95 armed forces personnel, dozens of firefighters and 11 vehicles worked on the ground to extinguish the blaze.

“Currently, the fire continues in the hilly forested area, where the terrain is difficult, so a helicopter has also been engaged in the extinguishing operation and continues to intervene from the air,” the mayor said.

Thanks to the intervention of the forces on the ground, there is no damage to hotels, resorts or homes in the area.

“Gratitude to all the firefighters, the infantry forces and the emergency teams working tirelessly on the ground to extinguish the fire and protect the area’s residents and property,” said mayor Ermirjana Sako.
