Milović demands investigation: How did his SPO statement end up in the media?

Former Montenegrin justice minister and lawyer Andrej Milović has addressed the state prosecution with a request for an investigation, addressed to the chief prosecutor of the Special State Prosecutor’s Office (SDT), Vladimir Novović. Milović claims that his statement, which he gave as a citizen before officers of the Special Police Department (SPO) on September 16, was unlawfully leaked to the media, and demands it be established who within the SPO forwarded the document to the daily “Vijesti.”

Parts of his statement were published in the “Vijesti” article titled “Biranje notara punilo džepove” (“Choosing notaries filled pockets”). Milović claims the published text did not quote his statement faithfully, but had merged fragments of it with parts of a criminal complaint, creating content that does not match what he said. He calls this media manipulation and a montage aimed at publicly compromising him, as well as a violation of the secrecy of the proceedings.

Milović asks the prosecution to urgently investigate how his statement reached the public and to determine responsibility for the possibly unlawful distribution of documents from the investigative proceedings. He also asks that his letter be treated as a complaint against the persons responsible for unlawful and unethical conduct.

He warns that if the institutions do not act, he will be forced to turn to representatives of the international community and international organizations.
