“Mind Your Own Business — Did You Ever Marry?!” — Zegjineja Clashes With Bardhi in Late-Night Parliament Debate
A tense debate with sharp tones was heard in the Albanian Parliament between the leader of the Democratic Party’s parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, and Socialist Party MP Zegjine Çaushi.
During his speech, Bardhi addressed the MP by mentioning her uncle, who was handcuffed after accusations by his ex-partner of violence and of injuring her father with a cutting tool (a sickle).
For her part, MP Çaushi demanded to reply to the accusations, responding: “You should mind your own business, Gazo, did you yourself ever marry?”
Excerpt from the debate in Parliament:
Bardhi – to Çaushi: Did your uncle ever marry? Did he ever marry? Keep your seat there because I’m speaking. I’ll give this other piece to him. The oil will be brought by another friend of mine and he will take it, the gas by that other one. This is the state you have built. You have no connection to the law.
Peleshi: Discussions are closed here.
Çaushi demanded a reply.
Peleshi: Answer at 01:30 in the morning, please!
Çaushi: You should mind your own business, Gazo, did you yourself ever marry? Elections in Fier are won when a political leader like you comes. If a miserable man like you comes, who eats qofte and drinks gin, without knocking on a single door — not only are elections not won, they are won more convincingly than this time.
