Netflix expands ‘Women Like Us’ cast: nine new names join Whoopi Goldberg
Netflix’s upcoming film “Women Like Us” has expanded its cast with nine new names, according to an exclusive report by Deadline, published on September 28, 2026. The new additions include familiar faces from the big and small screen: Greg Tarzan Davis (“Top Gun: Maverick”), Melanie Liburd (“Bad Boys: Ride or Die”), Harry Lennix (“The Blacklist”), Joy Bryant (“Parenthood”), Danielle Pinnock (“Ghosts”), Dewayne Perkins (“The Studio”), jazz singer Samara Joy — a six-time Grammy winner — Tiffany Boone (“Mufasa: The Lion King”) and Gail Bean (“Snowfall” / “The Drop”).
The nine join the lead cast headed by Whoopi Goldberg, Jenifer Lewis, Vanessa Williams and Vivica A. Fox — a double reunion bound to warm fans’ hearts: Goldberg and Lewis return together after “Sister Act”, while Williams and Fox reunite after “Soul Food”.
The film follows the story of a widowed woman whom her sister and close friends take along for a weekend in the Hamptons — the trip that was meant to be her 30th wedding anniversary. But what was supposed to be a relaxing break turns into a reckoning with grief, marriage and sisterhood, and a reminder that dreams have no expiration date. Details of the characters the new actors will play remain under wraps.
Behind the camera stands director Tasha Smith, with a screenplay by Ali Kinney and additional writing by Tracy Oliver (“Girls Trip”). The project marks the first production joining Charles D. King’s Macro Film Studios with the Obama family’s Higher Ground; Michelle Obama and Charles D. King are executive producers, while producers include James Lopez, Poppy Hanks, Anikah McLaren and Mark R. Wright. According to the announcement, filming has already begun in New York.
