Olivia Miles Breaks Caitlin Clark’s Record, Makes History with Minnesota Lynx

Olivia Miles made history on Sunday in the Minnesota Lynx’s matchup with the Connecticut Sun, scoring the 770th and 771st points of the 2026 season, breaking the rookie scoring record set by Caitlin Clark in 2024.

As Bleacher Report reports, this was Miles’ 40th game of her first WNBA season, the same number Clark played in 2024. Before this game she averaged 19.7 points per game on 48.8% shooting, along with 4.7 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.3 steals. Miles entered the league after a standout season with TCU and was also known from her time at Notre Dame; many analysts believed that had she declared for the draft in 2025, she would almost certainly have been a lottery pick.

Miles’ role has been decisive for the Minnesota Lynx’s success; the team had the league’s best record (21-6) before Napheesa Collier returned from injury on July 22. Her efforts have put her at the center of season award discussions: despite the outstanding performance, competition for the MVP remains strong, with Las Vegas Aces’ A’ja Wilson in the lead, while Miles looks secure for the Rookie of the Year title and a spot on the All-WNBA First Team.

According to Bleacher Report, even though Miles’ record is an extraordinary achievement, the expansion of the season from 44 to 50 games expected to begin in 2027 could make this figure easier to break in the future; nevertheless, her debut will remain one of the most prominent of recent seasons.
