OpenAI introduces ChatGPT Spaces: a shared space for teams, files and AI agents

OpenAI has introduced several new tools for teamwork during its Dev Day event, and one of the main novelties is ChatGPT Spaces, a shared space where colleagues can collaborate with ChatGPT and the new personal AI agents, called Dots, as Telegrafi reports. According to OpenAI, teams will be able to organise in a single space the files uploaded by members, as well as materials created with the help of ChatGPT. The aim is for the documents and information needed for a project to be easier for all team members to find and use.

ChatGPT Spaces will initially be available to users of the Pro, Business and Enterprise plans, through the ChatGPT desktop app and web version, while later it is expected to arrive on mobile devices as well.

Another novelty concerns meetings. OpenAI has introduced a tool that can take notes during a meeting, create summaries and identify the tasks to be carried out afterwards. These materials can be added automatically to a Space. The company says the audio recording is deleted once the notes have been created. This function will initially be available in the ChatGPT app for macOS, for Pro and Business plan users, while Enterprise users will get access later.

Given that Spaces can contain sensitive company documents and information, OpenAI also stresses the security aspect. The company says its Private Intelligence system is designed to give businesses more security in using advanced AI models, while protecting their data.

As part of the new work tools, ChatGPT will also be integrated with Slack and Microsoft Teams for Business and Enterprise users. In channels, private conversations or topic-specific discussions, users will be able to mention @ChatGPT to carry out tasks, such as creating presentations based on a conversation. With the permission of administrators or users, ChatGPT will also be able to connect with other tools and services teams use through Slack and Teams.

OpenAI also introduced Pages, a kind of interactive document where users can create text, charts, images and visualisations, before sharing them with colleagues for comments and collaboration. In the coming weeks, a function for shared presentations is also expected to become available, which can be exported to PowerPoint and Google Slides. The company is also preparing shareable profiles, where users can present their web apps and plugins so colleagues can see and use them.

With these tools, OpenAI is expanding ChatGPT beyond individual use, positioning it increasingly as a platform for collaboration, information management and automation of work processes.
