PARIS – Macron: France will convene a G7 energy summit
PARIS, September 18 /ATSH-AFP/ – French President Emmanuel Macron announced today that France will convene a G7 summit dedicated to “energy issues,” to be held “in the coming weeks,” with the aim of “making progress on better coordination on reserve levels.”
“This meeting should help avoid unnecessary tensions between G7 countries and our key partners and also review options for the possible release of strategic reserves,” he said after a meeting at the Élysée Palace with party leaders and presidential candidates.
He said he is working to secure oil and gas supplies, noting that France is “at the expected storage level and will ensure that its reservoirs are full this winter.”
He also said he would “contact” the European Commission on the issue of gas storage at the European level, but also “to be able to accelerate all possible flexibilities to lower prices and the energy price structure.”
