Petro Koçi: If I were in Parliament, I would not vote for the Territorial Reform!
Petro Koçi has declared that he would not vote for the new Territorial Reform at the October 8 session. A guest on the “Off the Record” programme hosted by Andrea Danglli on A2 CNN, the former Socialist MP recalled that he voted against the constitutional changes of April 21, 2008.
“In my heart, I would not vote for the Territorial Reform. I voted against the constitutional amendments of 21 April 2008, which fall into one of those cases where the party statute expels you,” Petro Koçi said.
The former MP also pointed out that MPs are feeling pressure from below, since people do not agree with the reform.
“I could find a way to abstain. I would not vote for it because I think, for example, that Patos does not deserve to be split up and to stay merged with Fier, while we have Roskovec remaining a municipality of its own, and Patos, which is a distinct identity. It matters from the standpoint of the economy, demographics, etc. I believe the MPs feel the pressure from below; people are not necessarily in agreement,” he said.
