Pezeshkian: The U.S. and Israel are trying to sow division inside Iran

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian declared that the United States and Israel are pursuing a strategy to sow and deepen divisions inside Iran, after failing to subdue the country by military force, according to Iran’s state agency IRNA, cited by Al Jazeera.

“After failing to force the Iranian people to surrender through military war, the enemies have concentrated their whole plan on creating and intensifying internal divisions”, Pezeshkian said during a meeting with mayors of major cities and provincial capitals.

He stressed the need to preserve national unity and cohesion, warning: “One group must not weaken the country under the illusion that it is ‘all-knowing’; public participation by all citizens is the most important way to overcome the plots.”

The statement comes at a moment when the U.S.–Iran war has entered its eighth month and Tehran faces continued economic and military pressure. Iranian officials have repeatedly stressed that internal unity is the country’s first line of defense.
