Yemeni forces carry out 414 precision strikes on Houthi positions in 24 hours — the ground war escalates

Yemen’s government forces have carried out 414 precision strikes on Houthi positions over the past 24 hours, as Al Jazeera reports in its war liveblog, citing Yemeni armed forces spokesman Majid al-Nuzaili.

The large tally of strikes marks a marked escalation of the ground war, which follows a week of fierce clashes for control of the Bab al-Mandeb Strait and the Red Sea coastline, where the Iran-backed Houthis have taken control of strategic areas.

Despite the strikes, the Houthi group has said it is evading the hits and advancing toward Marib, while Saudi Arabia has carried out hundreds of air strikes on Houthi positions in the same period.

The fighting in Yemen has already, according to the United Nations, displaced 125,000 people, while humanitarian aid is at critical levels.
