Poly Auction opens its Hong Kong Autumn Auctions 2026: four categories, with works by Zao Wou-Ki, Wu Guanzhong and imperial Chinese porcelain
Poly Auction Hong Kong today, October 3, opened the preview of its Autumn Auctions 2026 at Six Pacific Place, according to PR Newswire, which carries the auction house’s official announcement. The preview stays open from October 2 to 4, while the auctions themselves will be held from October 5 to 7, 2026.
This autumn the sales are divided into four collecting categories: Modern and Contemporary Art; Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art; Chinese Painting and Calligraphy; and Jewels & Watches. According to the announcement, the catalogue brings together works from different eras and cultures, from 20th-century Chinese masters to contemporary Western names.
In the modern and contemporary art category, standouts include Zao Wou-Ki’s abstract “01.06.65” (1965) and Wu Guanzhong’s “Old Riverside Trees” (1977), alongside Liu Wei’s “Landscape” and Yue Minjun’s “Big Ear” (1992). A special moment is David Hockney’s iPad drawing, “The Arrival of Spring in Woldgate, East Yorkshire in 2011” (edition 3 of 25) — the first from the series ever to come to auction in Asia. The catalogue also includes Yuan Jai’s “Age of Bloom” (1998), as well as Qiu Ying’s “Autumn Ride on the Plains”, a work that was once part of the Qing imperial collection.
Chinese ceramics and works of art are led by a standing gilt-copper figure of Manjushri from the 13th century, from Nepal’s Khasa Malla Kingdom, and by imperial porcelain of the Yongzheng period from the Wang Xing Lou Collection — among them the gold-leaf red-glazed vase “Three Friends of Winter” and the famille-rose meiping “Four Sages of Mount Shang”. The catalogue is enriched further with works from the Tsui Museum of Art Collection.
The jewels and watches sector brings a diamond necklace with a Burmese “pigeon’s blood” ruby, while among the watches the Royal Oak Concept Black Panther with a flying tourbillon stands out — lots which, according to the auction house, aim at the peak of international collectors’ interest.
