Emily Bergl leads the staged reading of the new play ‘The Trust’ on October 11 in New York
Actress Emily Bergl, known to audiences from the television series “Shameless” and “Desperate Housewives” and from her role in the Broadway musical “Just in Time”, will lead the cast of the staged reading of the new play “The Trust” by writer Andrew Heinze, as Playbill announces. The reading is organized by the American Renaissance Theater Company and will be held on October 11 at the Bank Street Theater in New York.
The presentation is directed by Stan Zimmerman, known for his work on the popular series “Gilmore Girls” and the film “right before i go”. The work is described as a modern tragedy inspired by Shakespeare, dramatizing what can go catastrophically wrong in an American family, despite the best intentions of an ethical but self-deluding parent.
Alongside Bergl, the cast will include Jonathan Penner, known from the series “Rude Awakening” and the reality show “Survivor”, as well as Eric Percival, Ben Hirschhorn and Caroline Keegan Savage. The reading marks the second collaboration between Heinze and Zimmerman — the pair previously brought the play “The Rimsky-Fogelman” as part of the 2023 Summer Writers’ Festival in Los Angeles.
Admission to the reading is free: those interested can reserve a seat through the theatre company’s email address.
