Protest in Pristina: U.S. Embassy advises avoiding “Skënderbeu” Square

The Embassy of the United States of America in Pristina has published a notice regarding the protest expected to be held today at “Skënderbeu” Square in Pristina.

The protest organized by the Kosovo Liberation Army War Veterans Organization (OVL-UÇK) is announced to start at 12:00, in opposition to the Kosovo Specialist Chambers’ verdict in The Hague against former KLA leaders Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi.

In its notice, the U.S. Embassy announced that the rally may bring gatherings of citizens and temporary changes to road traffic in the center of the capital.

The Embassy has called on citizens to avoid “Skënderbeu” Square and surrounding areas during the protest, due to possible road closures and traffic disruptions.

Citizens have also been asked, if they are near the rally, to exercise caution and remain attentive to developments on the ground.

The U.S. Embassy notice was published as a “Demonstration Alert” for Pristina and relates to the announced protests of September 18, 2026.

Meanwhile, the responsible institutions are expected to take the necessary measures for traffic management during the protest. /Telegrafi/
