Russian airstrikes hit port infrastructure in the Odesa region, Governor Kiper says
Massive Russian airstrikes hit industrial and port infrastructure in the Odesa region on Monday morning, Governor Oleh Kiper announced on Telegram, as Reuters writes.
All the fires caused by the strikes have now been extinguished, the governor added, without immediately giving details of the damage.
Russia’s Ministry of Defence said on Telegram that its forces struck the port of Vylkove, fuel depots in Chornomorsk and commercial ships in the Odesa region, according to Reuters — claiming that the facilities served military purposes, a claim that Reuters did not independently verify.
The attack comes as a continuation of the intensification of Russia’s campaign against Ukrainian ports and commercial ships; just two days earlier, a Liberian-flagged commercial vessel was hit in the port of Odesa, leaving one person dead and three wounded.
