Russian missile and drone strike kills a child in the Kyiv region: three injured and damage to homes and infrastructure

A Russian missile and drone strike overnight on Tuesday killed a child and injured three other people in the Kyiv region, the region’s governor, Tymur Tkachenko, announced.

Governor Tkachenko said on Telegram, as the Reuters agency reports, that the attack had also caused damage to infrastructure facilities, private homes, warehouses and cars in the region around the Ukrainian capital.

The attack is part of Russia’s continued bombardment of the Ukrainian capital and its region in recent weeks. During the same night, explosions caused power outages in several parts of the city of Kyiv, according to local authorities.

Kyiv faces attacks almost every night from waves of Russian drones and missiles, including new jet-powered drones that fly at speeds of up to 500 km/h — a campaign that has forced Ukraine to urgently seek more air defense systems from its Western allies.
