Selling drugs near Tirana schools: 31 arrested, 14 others wanted

A wide-ranging anti-drug operation has been finalized in Tirana after four months of investigation, identifying 52 suspects as part of several groups selling narcotics near schools and in various areas of the capital.

The operation, codenamed “Clean Schools”, was carried out by the Narcotics Investigation Sector at the Tirana Local Police Directorate, in cooperation with the Tirana Prosecution.

As part of the operation, 31 “Arrest in prison” security measures were executed, while 14 other people identified during the investigation have been declared wanted. According to the Police, another 7 people were arrested during the investigative phase.

During the investigation and the execution of the security measures, authorities seized:

1.075 kg of heroin; 1.265 kg of cocaine; 685 grams of Cannabis Sativa; 1 pistol firearm; 90 cartridges; 2 electronic scales; 12 vehicles; 35 cell phones; other contraband items.

According to the Police, the investigation documented that the targeted groups sold narcotics near 9-year and secondary schools, as well as in various areas of Tirana.

To avoid the attention of Police services, in some cases the narcotics are suspected to have been distributed via scooters, as well as taxi and delivery services.

31 people under “Arrest in prison” measures

As part of the operation, “Arrest in prison” security measures were executed for 31 citizens:

Meanwhile, during the investigative phase another 7 people were detained: K. C., G. M., Zh. P., E. T., D. Sh., D. F. and M. T.

Police announce that the 14 other people identified as part of these groups have been declared wanted. As the investigation continues, authorities have not made their data public.
