“Sight Line”: Sarah Schlesinger Opens Solo Exhibition of Seascapes in London — 12 Works Without a Horizon Line

A new solo exhibition by New York painter Sarah Schlesinger opened at the Huxley-Parlour gallery on Swallow Street in London, titled “Sight Line.” It is the artist’s second solo presentation at this gallery and features 12 new works.

Schlesinger (studies at Taylor University, Indiana, and MFA at the New York Academy of Art) explores the seascape genre by removing the traditional horizon line: her compositions are tightly cropped on water and sky, with thin bands of color suggesting sunrise or sunset without showing the light source.

The result is a deliberate ambiguity of place and time that invites the viewer to look intensely, not simply admire a landscape. The works do not read as classic views but as surfaces to be studied — with tight cropping, the materiality of water, and a restrained palette that challenges fixed visual meaning.

The exhibition remains open until October 17, 2026.
