Smuggling Scheme Hit at Kakavijë and Kapshticë Border Crossings: Over 4 Million Lek in Duties and Penalties

As part of strengthening controls and protecting fair competition, the Customs Administration’s structures, based on risk analysis, have hit a smuggling scheme at the Kakavijë and Kapshticë border crossing points.

During the inspection of 3 vehicles, quantities of undeclared goods were found, as well as changes in the nature of the goods, aimed at evading customs duties.

At the end of the verifications, the relevant administrative measures were imposed, the goods considered contraband were seized, and the cases were referred criminally to the Prosecution.

The value of the evaded customs duties amounts to around 1.6 million lek, while the penalties to around 2.5 million lek, bringing the total sum of duties and penalties to around 4.1 million lek.
