Thaçi’s Cousin: “I Lied to Hashim’s Mother, Told Her Tomorrow He’d Come to Hug Her”
Milazim Thaçi, cousin of former president Hashim Thaçi, told “Debat Plus” about a conversation he had with Thaçi’s mother before the verdict against the former KLA leaders was announced.
He said that two days before the verdict he had visited Hashim Thaçi’s mother and, hoping her son would be freed, told her that Hashim would return the next day.
“The day before yesterday I was at Thaçi’s mother. I even lied to her, I told her: ‘Tomorrow Hashim will come to hug you,’ and it didn’t turn out that way, I lied,” Milazim Thaçi said.
He said Hashim Thaçi’s mother is in poor health and that after the verdict he hadn’t had the strength to visit her.
“She is very ill and today I haven’t gone at all, because I’m upset myself, and the whole family, the whole neighborhood, all of Kosovo,” he said.
Milazim Thaçi also recounted words that, according to him, Hashim Thaçi’s mother had said during the visit.
“She said: ‘Bless your mouth, God willing he’ll come to us as soon as possible, not only her son, but all those who are there,'” he recounted.
Thaçi’s cousin described the verdict as a great injustice, also mentioning his own experience in The Hague in 2002, during the trial against Slobodan Milošević.
“A great injustice, I swear to God. I was in The Hague in 2002 against Slobodan Milošević. Back then there were only 60 witnesses, and now for our liberators they’ve become 260 or 300, as they’re saying. Truly a shame,” he said.
Milazim Thaçi also voiced concern over the fact that there were Albanians who testified against Albanians.
“Why are there Albanians against Albanians, I don’t know what to say. We had no friends and didn’t value freedom. Today I’m free, with all the good things…” he said. /TV Dukagjini
