“The Goddess Is Watching”: full cast revealed for Korean musical’s London showcase
Six actors have joined the cast of “The Goddess Is Watching”, the original Korean musical to be presented at the second London showcase on October 12, 2026, at Charing Cross Theatre. The announced cast comprises JoJo Meredith as Seokgu, Xander Pang as Yeongbeom, Laurence Mossman as Donghyeon, Chloe Saracco as the Goddess, Joe Thompson-Oubari as Sunho and Jack Ofrecio as Juhwa, while casting for the role of Changseop continues and will be announced separately.
The showcase, to be held by invitation only for industry professionals — producers, directors, programmers, playwrights and potential investors — marks the final phase of the musical’s London development process, aiming for a full production in the United Kingdom in 2027. The version presented in October is further developed in English, with particular attention to the dramatic context, the relationships between the characters and their emotional journey.
The show, set during the Korean War, follows six soldiers from opposing sides who become stranded together on an uninhabited island. In an attempt to comfort a deeply traumatized soldier, the others invent the story of a goddess watching over the island — a lie that initially serves survival, but gradually unites the former enemies and lets them rediscover compassion and shared humanity.
The showcase will be directed by Bronagh Lagan, the Olivier Award-nominated director of “Cruise”, with Colm O’Regan returning as musical director. It continues the development work that began with the first London showcase at The Other Palace in November 2025. The production is being developed in London by Yeonwoo Stage and ILOVESTAGE UK Ltd, as part of an ongoing collaboration between the Korean and British theatre industries.
