“The KLA was never a criminal enterprise” — KLA War Veterans Organization reacts harshly after the sentences
The Kosovo Liberation Army War Veterans Organization (OVL of the KLA) has reacted after the announcement of the verdict against Hashim Thaҫi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi, categorically opposing the decision of the Specialist Court in The Hague.
In its reaction, OVL of the KLA says the verdict “strikes at the just liberation war of the KLA” and, according to the organization, hurts the families who gave their sons and daughters for Kosovo’s freedom.
“The KLA was never a criminal enterprise. It was the organized resistance of a people against occupation, expulsion and massacre,” the OVL reaction states.
The organization emphasizes that the KLA’s sacrifice was, in its view, part of the road that led to Kosovo’s statehood, sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.
OVL of the KLA states that no court decision can rewrite the history of the liberation war, adding that the war and the sacrifice of those who fought for Kosovo’s freedom remain part of the country’s history.
In the reaction, OVL of the KLA also reiterates its earlier stance that the Specialist Court and the Hague proceedings have been political. The organization calls the verdict “a shame for international justice” and says it will remain a stain on the way the KLA’s war and the sacrifice of the people of Kosovo have been treated. /Telegrafi/
