The real wh*res of a society!

I had been thinking for several days about writing about what happened after the publication of some private videos of some artists.

Let me say it clearly from the start: filming, recording and even more so publishing private footage without the knowledge and consent of the persons is unacceptable. Everything else that people do in their private lives belongs to them.

But what impressed me was not only the videos. It was society’s reaction. It was that outburst of moralism, judgement and public lynching that took over the internet.

If only this society reacted with the same vigour when public money is stolen, when power is abused, when schools are missing, when services are missing, when young people leave and when development remains only propaganda, perhaps today we would live in a much better country.

But no. The internet boils over people’s private lives. Names are demanded. Footage is shared. People are exposed, judged and branded, and the word used most easily is: “wh*re.”

But the real wh*res of this society are not in those videos.

The real wh*res of this society are those who steal this country.

The real wh*res of this society are those who have abused their office and today come out and sell morality.

The real wh*res of this society are those who have achieved nothing on merit, but everything through servility, connections and deals.

The real wh*res of this society are those who eavesdrop, record and feed on watching other people’s lives through the keyhole.

The real wh*res of this society are those who have done who knows what in their lives to climb onto a pedestal and today preach morality and judge other people’s lives.

The real wh*res of this society are the ungrateful and the hypocrites.

So let the artists live their lives. What they do in their privacy, as long as they harm no one, is their own business. They have not stolen our taxes, they have not taken our property, they have not emptied our schools and they have not forced us to leave the country. They have lived their lives.

Our problem is not what people do behind closed doors. The problem is what those who hold power over our lives do, in the middle of the day and before our eyes.

Therefore, before we look for “wh*res” in other people’s private videos, let us look a little better around us, because the real wh*res of this society are not those who live their lives. They are those who, while selling us morality, damage each of our lives every day.
