Tirana shooting solved: suspected gunman wanted; accomplice in handcuffs, two others charged

Tirana police announced today (September 26) that they solved within 24 hours the authorship and circumstances of the gun shooting that happened yesterday on “Hysni Gërbolli” street.

The suspected perpetrator was identified and declared wanted, while work continues to locate and capture him. A 20-year-old was also handcuffed and 2 other citizens involved in the conflict are being criminally prosecuted.

Police announced they have identified the suspected perpetrator, 54-year-old Sajmir Pasmaciu, who has been declared wanted.

According to investigations, during a conflict in a bar, the 54-year-old shot with a firearm and wounded in the leg 33-year-old Gjenk Karabeg, then left the scene. During a search of his home, a hunting rifle, a knife and combat ammunition were seized.

In connection with the conflict, police also arrested 20-year-old Samuel Tahiraj, while two other persons are being prosecuted in a free state.

The injured man was also handcuffed, as he turned out to be a person wanted by Kosovo authorities. A hunting rifle, a cutting tool (knife) and combat ammunition were seized.

Police announcement:

“As a result of rapid and professional investigative actions, carried out by the services of Police Commissariat No. 3, it became possible to clarify the circumstances and document the incident that occurred on 25.09.2026, on ‘Hysni Gërbolli’ street.

From the investigative actions it is suspected that, during a conflict in a bar, citizen S. P., 54 years old, shot with a firearm and wounded in the leg citizen Gj. K., 33 years old, and then left the scene.

The 54-year-old was declared wanted for the criminal offenses of ‘Attempted murder’, ‘Unlicensed production and possession of combat weapons and ammunition’, ‘Unlicensed possession of cold weapons’ and ‘Disturbance of public peace and order’, while work continues to locate and capture him.

During the search of citizen S. P.’s home, a hunting rifle, a cutting tool (knife) and combat ammunition were found and seized as material evidence.

In the continuation of the investigative actions, it resulted that citizen S. T., 20 years old, was also involved in the conflict, who is suspected of having clashed with several persons with hard objects, leaving citizen A. P., 18 years old, injured. At the end of the procedural actions, citizen S. T. was arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offenses of ‘Intentional light injury’, ‘Failure to report a crime’ and ‘Disturbance of public peace and order’.

Meanwhile, criminal proceedings were initiated in a free state for citizens B. P., 49 years old, and S. P., 18 years old, as it is suspected that during the conflict they hit citizen S. T. with hard objects. Also, during the search of the 49-year-old’s home, several cartridges were found and seized.

In the continuation, during the verifications carried out, it resulted that citizen Gj. K., 33 years old, was a person wanted by Kosovo authorities. The 33-year-old was arrested for extradition purposes, as he turns out to have been sentenced by the Basic Court in Gjakova to 50 days imprisonment, for the criminal offense of ‘Unauthorized possession of narcotics, psychotropic substances or analogues’.

The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office for further actions.”
