Trafficking 15 migrants in “Q7” cars toward EU countries — smugglers ram police cars during chase, 2 wanted

The Korça Border and Migration Directorate and the investigative structures of the Korça Police Directorate have finalized an operation in cooperation with the Gramsh Police Station and Tirana’s Police Station No. 5.

The operation began from the village of Kapshtica in Devoll and ended in the city of Gramsh. According to information, police forces spotted two Audi Q7 vehicles near the village of Kapshtica, suspected of having picked up a group of illegal migrants.

Large forces were put in pursuit of the two vehicles, since the drivers did not obey the order to stop. The drivers left around 15 illegal migrants near Lozhan and fled toward Gramsh.

There they faced the checkpoint, ramming two of the patrol cars and endangering the lives of the police officers. After the collision, they continued on their way, while the two Audi Q7s were found abandoned in two villages of Gramsh.

Police have identified the two drivers of the vehicles and declared them wanted, while also proceeding in a state of liberty against a third person.

As for the 15 migrants, they were found hidden in a stream near the village of Lozhan in Maliq, while the two vehicles used for their transport toward Tirana were seized.

Police work continues to capture the two wanted persons, and investigations are ongoing to fully clarify the circumstances and the other persons involved in this activity.
