Vlora Hyseni from Kosovo to Albania?! Gjyli: How was she placed at the helm of SHISH

Analyst and lecturer Arsejda Gjyli, a guest on Euronews Albania‘s Review with Greta Topjana, commented on the suspension measure against former SHISH director Vlora Hyseni.

Gjyli stressed that as long as state information is compromised, the matter rises to a high level of national security.

She further raised strong questions about the selection criteria for Vlora Hyseni, recalling that she had previously served as deputy director at the KIA in Kosovo, from where she was suspended by former president Osmani and later dismissed by Prime Minister Kurti.

“The very fact that Albanian citizens automatically feel violated to this point when it comes to classified information automatically constitutes a matter of a high level. It is a matter under investigation — we are talking about a security measure having been issued, not a measure of guilt, in terms that we cannot reach a definitive conclusion to say what the proven charges are in final form. But there are two charges raised against the former SHISH director: the first links her to supporting actors who have files and are being investigated by SPAK, and on the other hand suspicion of leaking classified information,” she said.

“And for this we automatically go to a measure which suspends her from duty — a request for suspension from duty is submitted and automatically she has been suspended from duty by the President of the Republic. So this is the picture.”

“What interests us at this point is national security. But have we really gone to these levels? On what criteria was the appointment made, and on what criteria was the selection made for this official who is of such a high level, and on what criteria are executive levels selected to be in the positions they are in?”

“The lady also held a position in Kosovo, that of the KIA, which is again a very high information institution — she was deputy director there and was suspended by the former president, Mrs. Osmani, and then by this decision was dismissed, and a few months later by Mr. Kurti. So we are at the point of on what criteria it is raised, and what we want to understand is: on what criteria are individuals placed who carry public weight and individuals who carry executive weight in these leading institutions?” she said.
