Haxhiu calls on protesters outside the Assembly: Keep calm, violence harms the cause
The Speaker of the Assembly, Albulena Haxhiu, has called on the protesters standing outside the Assembly over the amendments to the Law on the Specialist Chambers to let the protest continue in a peaceful manner.
Haxhiu said that the right to protest is guaranteed by the Constitution and by the legislation in force, and as such it must be fully respected.
“The right to protest is guaranteed by the Constitution, but also by the legislation in force, and as such it must be fully respected,” Haxhiu said.
From the Assembly rostrum, she addressed the protesters with the request to avoid every form of violence.
“I call on all protesters to preserve the peaceful character of the protest, because I believe we all agree that violence harms the cause we all want to defend, that of the KLA and our liberators,” she declared.
Haxhiu recalled that the Assembly has already voted in principle on the Draft Law amending the Law on the Specialist Chambers.
“The Assembly voted in principle on the draft law, as the very first item of this session,” she said.
In the end, Haxhiu repeated the call for calm and a peaceful protest.
“Therefore, I call on everyone to keep calm and for the protest to continue in a peaceful manner,” Haxhiu said. /Telegrafi/
