Yemeni army: 1,540 Houthi fighters killed or wounded in 24 hours — 474 attacks on all fronts
Yemen’s armed forces announced they had carried out 474 air strikes and precision strikes in the last 24 hours against Houthi positions on multiple fronts, as Al Jazeera reports.
Military spokesman Colonel Majid al-Nuzaili said warplanes, drones, artillery, missile units and special forces took part in the operations. According to him, the attacks killed or wounded 1,540 Houthi fighters, most of them on the Taiz fronts, and destroyed military vehicles, weapons depots and command centres.
The operations, according to the Yemeni army, extended from southern Haradh and the coast to Kitaf, al-Jawf, Marib, al-Bayda and al-Hudaydah — one of the widest air campaigns by Yemen’s internationally recognised government in recent weeks.
The Houthis, for their part, deny the losses and claim that Saudi forces carried out 94 air and missile attacks during the past week, targeting civilian areas. According to the group, the total number of attacks by the Saudi-led coalition in September has passed 1,100 — a figure that shows the war in Yemen has entered its most intense phase since the Houthis seized Bab al-Mandeb.
