84th anniversary of the Conference of Peza
On 16 September 1942 the Conference of Peza was held, bringing together representatives of the Albanian anti-fascist forces with the aim of forming a united front in the fight against the occupier.
The Conference of Peza took several important decisions:
– The creation of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation Front, which would include anti-fascists without distinction of religion, region or ideas.
– Mobilising the people in the war against the fascist occupiers.
– Establishing National Liberation Councils throughout the country.
– Aligning Albania with the Anglo-Soviet-American anti-fascist coalition.
– Creating a free, independent and democratic Albania after the war.
As for the question of King Zog’s return to the homeland, it was decided that this decision would be taken after the war by the Albanian people themselves.
Another issue was that of Kosovo, on which it was concluded that it would be resolved after the war, based on the right of self-determination. At the end of its proceedings, the Conference of Peza elected the General National Liberation Council, chaired by Kamber Qafëmolla.
