Abdixhiku after Sejdiu’s withdrawal: He showed dignity — how much we need good people

The leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku, has reacted after Bekim Sejdiu withdrew his candidacy for president of Kosovo, saying he showed dignity in the face of what he called “political hysteria”.

Abdixhiku said Sejdiu’s withdrawal proves, in his view, that he would have been the right choice for president.

“Bekim Sejdiu showed dignity. His withdrawal, in the face of political hysteria, proves precisely why a person of such character would be the right choice for President,” Abdixhiku wrote.

The LDK leader expressed regret that Kosovo currently has no president and that, in his view, instead of a political solution, the country is facing chaos, blockade and the prospect of new elections.

“It is regrettable that today we have no President. That instead of a solution we have political chaos, blockade as a tool and new elections, once again, as a goal,” he said.

Abdixhiku also criticized the attacks on Sejdiu during the candidacy process, saying they were aimed at damaging his figure.

“It is also regrettable for Bekim, who was unjustly made the target of unprecedented attacks to drown out his character. The smearing of him had the least to do with him,” he wrote.

According to Abdixhiku, in Kosovar politics, hatred and personal grudges have become stronger than responsibility toward the country.

“How much we need good people in this country. How easily we throw them away,” he said.

Abdixhiku described the current situation as “Kosovo’s political PISA”, accusing the political class of blockage and failure to find institutional solutions.

“This is Kosovo’s political PISA. The point is to destroy every normal effort today! We block, we stall, we hate, we drown characters and we end up back in elections. And after them, in others,” he wrote.

Finally, Abdixhiku thanked Sejdiu for his readiness and stance throughout the process.

“Thank you, Bekim, for your readiness and the dignity you consistently showed. In today’s politics, these virtues are a value,” Abdixhiku wrote. /Telegrafi/
