Haziri on Isufaj’s dismissal: The Republic does not tolerate the party-state mentality
The deputy leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Lutfi Haziri, has reacted after the dismissal of Blerim Isufaj from the post of chief prosecutor of the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo (SPRK).
Haziri described Isufaj as “the greatest fighter against corruption”, while criticising the decision of the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPK).
“The Republic does not tolerate the party-state mentality!”, Haziri wrote.
According to him, the approach towards independent institutions began with the dismissal of the former chair of the Central Election Commission, Valdete Daka, and then continued with enterprise boards, independent commissions, the Kosovo Judicial Council, ambassadors and consuls, and the Kosovo Intelligence Agency.
Haziri said that Isufaj’s dismissal comes at a moment when, according to him, a solution was expected to be found for electing the president by consensus.
“The soldier of freedom, the believer in the rule-of-law state and the greatest fighter against corruption was stopped today. But every stop can be only the point of the great return. Kosovo needs faith and hope, not dismissals of the best and most authoritative people the justice system had”, Haziri declared.
He repeated the position that, according to him, the institutions of the Republic must not function under a “party-state mentality”.
