Brad Pitt’s “Heart of the Beast” closes opening weekend with $50.1 million globally — third place, just behind “Resident Evil”
“Heart of the Beast,” director David Ayer’s survival drama starring Brad Pitt, closed its opening weekend (September 25–27, 2026) with $50.1 million globally, according to studio figures reported by the media.
The film ranked third at the global weekend box office, just one step behind second place. The weekend’s top spot went to Marvel’s special re-release “Avengers: Endgame Encore” with $86 million globally — a result that pushed “Endgame’s” all-time total to $2.885 billion.
Second place went to Zach Cregger’s “Resident Evil,” which collected $50.3 million in its second week of release and pushed its global total to $196.5 million. Fourth place was held by A24’s “Primetime” with Robert Pattinson, at around $20.1 million, as Entertainment Weekly reports.
Audience reception for “Heart of the Beast” was very warm, with high scores from cinema-goers. However, the film’s budget of around $80 million means it will need a long and steady theatrical run to be profitable. Shot in Alaska, the film sees Pitt play a pilot and former Green Beret who is stranded in the wilderness and must survive together with his dog Odin.
