Robert Eggers’ “Werwulf” unveils second trailer and hidden online game ahead of Christmas premiere
“Werwulf,” the new horror film from director Robert Eggers, has unveiled its second trailer, while Focus Features has also launched an alternate online game (ARG) plunging fans into the film’s dark world, as Just Jared reports.
The game invites fans to visit DevourethAllMankynde.com and is synced to every full moon from September through November: fans must find a “sign” hidden across different digital platforms and decode it within the game site to complete each moon — with only 24 hours for each hunt before the sign disappears. Those who complete all three moons can expect a mystery prize at the end of the game, according to the Focus Features announcement cited by Just Jared.
The film stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Lily-Rose Depp and Willem Dafoe, joined by Ralph Ineson and Bodhi Rae Breathnach. The official tagline describes it as “a chilling tale of devotion, curse and the devil within” — Eggers’ most “violent and miserable” experience to date.
“Werwulf” follows the success of Eggers’ “Nosferatu” and opens in cinemas on December 25.
