BUDAPEST – Pistorius Meets Hungarian Counterpart, Defense Cooperation in Focus
BERLIN, September 25 /ATSH-DPA/ – German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius will hold talks in Hungary today on military cooperation between the two countries.
According to the German Defense Ministry, Pistorius will meet his new Hungarian counterpart, Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi.
After the meeting, the two ministers are expected to make a public statement.
Germany and Hungary already have several cooperation programs in the defense field.
The talks take place at a time when Hungary is modernizing its armed forces, among other things with military systems and equipment produced in Germany.
According to sources, during the previous government of Viktor Orban, who held friendly stances toward Moscow, Hungary’s cooperation with European countries and NATO was often difficult.
With the new government, cooperation in the defense field could expand.
