Pentagon launches “Project Meridian”: 90-day study on the future of warfare after the operations in Iran
The U.S. Secretary of Defense has directed the Pentagon’s chief technology officer to order a study on the future of warfare, to be completed within 90 days, as Al Jazeera writes.
The memorandum orders chief technology officer Emil Michael to set up “Project Meridian: The Future of Warfare,” which will be led by senior military and technology officials. According to the memorandum, the American operations in Iran “demonstrated not only the skill and bravery of our warfighters, but also the unmatched technological capabilities of our military.”
The study comes as rapid advances in artificial intelligence, autonomy, directed energy, robotics and biotechnology are reshaping modern warfare, Al Jazeera notes.
