Clash at the North Mitrovica Assembly: chair Zaporozhac cuts off Albanian assembly member Ferati-Doli
A heated clash took place today at the Municipal Assembly of North Mitrovica after the assembly chair, Ivan Zaporozhac, cut off Albanian assembly member Aida Ferati-Doli as she was speaking, as KosovaPress reports.
The debate began when assembly member Marko Jakshiq asked for an agenda item on the current situation in the north and developments in North Mitrovica. Jakshiq mentioned, according to KosovaPress reporting, the arrest of nine people in Zubin Potok and the alleged halting of works on a municipal project, asking the assembly to discuss these developments and adopt a declaration stating its position.
In response, assembly member Aida Ferati-Doli reacted by saying that the issues raised by Jakshiq should not be tied to Trepça properties on political or ethnic grounds. During the debate, chair Zaporozhac cut her off, arguing that the matter was not part of the agenda — but Ferati-Doli contested the interruption, declaring that she and the Albanian assembly members are being cut off, and demanding that the debate be allowed.
Also taking part in the debate was Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) assembly member Emir Azemi, who criticized the way the chair was running the session. Meanwhile, as KosovaPress writes, Zaporozhac defended himself by saying that Ferati-Doli had not come forward to propose an addition to the agenda, but to respond to Jakshiq.
