Court places singer Erind Xhaferaj under house arrest

The court imposed the personal security measure of “house arrest” on singer Erind Xhaferaj, after reviewing the Prosecution’s requests, as he is suspected of committing lewd acts near the “Jakov Xoxa” artistic school in Fier.

The Prosecution had submitted two requests: the validation of the arrest in flagrante delicto as lawful, and the imposition of the personal security measure of “house arrest” on the suspect.

At the end of the court hearing, the court accepted both of the Prosecution’s requests.

In announcing the decision, the judge in the case reasoned that the conditions and circumstances existed for applying the personal security measure of “imprisonment”, provided for by Article 238 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

However, given that Article 224, paragraph 3, of the Criminal Procedure Code does not allow the court to impose a harsher measure than the one requested by the Prosecution, the court imposed the “house arrest” measure.
