Customs uncovers false declaration in Prizren; evasion of duties reaches €37,800

Customs officials at the Inland Customs Office in Prizren, during control and verification procedures of an import, identified irregularities in the declaration and description of the goods.

According to a media announcement, during the verification of the documentation and the actual condition of the goods, the declarant had declared that it was a matter of used machinery, while the purchase price had been declared on the basis of this characteristic.

“However, during the physical control and verification of the machinery’s identification plates, the customs official found that the machinery was from the year 2026, highlighting a discrepancy between the declared data and the actual condition of the goods. As a result of these findings, an evasion of customs duties in the amount of €37,800 has been identified,” the announcement says.

On the basis of the provisions of Customs and Excise Code No. 08/L-247, the case has been treated as a false declaration.

Kosovo Customs remains committed to protecting the financial interests of the Republic of Kosovo and to preventing the evasion of customs duties. Controls and verifications of declarations aim to ensure accurate declaration of goods, implementation of legislation in force and fair competition in the market.
