Deda: Defending the Constitution Cost Bekim Sejdiu Politically
Former MP and analyst Ilir Deda has reacted after Bekim Sejdiu’s withdrawal from the candidacy for president of Kosovo, saying the country has lost an opportunity to have a different model of state leadership.
Deda assessed that Sejdiu represented an approach in which the state would be placed above party interests and the Constitution above political calculations.
“With Bekim Sejdiu’s withdrawal, Kosovo lost an opportunity to have at the head of the state a different model of leadership — a man who puts the state before the party, the Constitution above every daily interest and party calculation, and public responsibility above personal ambition,” Deda wrote.
According to him, the paradox lies in the fact that precisely the defense of the Constitution has cost Sejdiu’s candidacy politically.
“Paradoxically, the defense of the Constitution had a political cost for Bekim’s candidacy,” he declared.
Deda said that with this case Kosovo lost the opportunity to show that it knows how to value people who do not put themselves first.
In the end, he raised the question of whether after this situation there is a way out beyond the polarization, mistrust and political hatred which, in his view, have spread in society.
“Let’s see now if there is a way beyond the polarization, mistrust and hatred spread among us,” Deda wrote. /Telegrafi/
